understanding column numbers

I have put my keywords into the keyword tool but I do not understand what the numbers mean.  Under competition most of my keywords have a number 1.  What does this mean?  Under the search columns, are they stated in thousands?  Example: one keyword has 390.  Is this really 390,000?

Thank you for your help.

Hello Pat,

Competition is measured between 0 and 1. Zero being little to no competition and One being very high competition. For searches they are the estimated total searches for one month and they are in actual number (i.e 390 is not 390,000 searches)
