Hi,

Dose the ad location targeting work using IP address or just when using the location in search?

I noticed my ad comes first when i put the locaiton in the search, however it does not show when i use one of the key words i selected. Any reason for this? how i can make my ad comes first?

Thanks adn best regards,

Adel

Hello,

Depending on your setting for "Advanced location settings" your ads can match only the physical location or also the search terms which contain your location . Details can be found here :

Google has provided a lot of details about how to move ads in the top 3 positons , in this page :

Also it is recommended to search your ads with the tool Ad Preview, because live searches may miss displaying your ads but the Ad Preview always shows how your Ad will appear ( when it can apear) and additional details for diagnosis in case there is a problem with the search term and the keywords.

I hope this helps.

Hello there;

Whether your ad is shown, at all, or in what position, is decided based  on the keyword which matched the search query,  and ad-rank your ad was given. It could be that the ad-rank of a keyword which includes the location, is higher than an ad-rank (of an ad triggered by a KW) without a location

As for the methods Googe uses to identify a user's location - these are basically 3:
IP; GPS on mobile (assuming active), and the location intent - in the search query
