keyword planner accuracy

Hey everyone, I have a quesiton regarding the accuracy of keyword planner.

Before starting my campaign, I used the [Keyword planner--get traffic estimate for sets of keywords] to get an idea of the the amount of impressions and clicks I can get with planned keywords. Based on past months keywords' query frequency, Google gave me an estimation of around 10k clicks with $5000 budget per month. Now, my question is: Based on your experiences, if I follow what google suggested, what would be the realistic expectation in terms of amount of clicks I get in my campaign?

I understand that the actual performance/cost could vary based on quality score, amount of compeition, etc. But I'm more looking for the general case. Would you suggest 80% of the expectation realistic?

Hey Abhishek,
I read over the article. And yes it for sure provided more insider clarity information. However, I'm still more curious about how accurate the estimation generally performs in comparison to the actual campaign.

I can't say anything about the accuracy as I never calculated them exactly, but what I can say is that I generally look for keywords ideas suggestion not the statistics as these are not so much reliable as per my thinking. Just for an e.g. the keyword CHEAP FLIGHTS have much higher monthly impressions(sorry for not stating the exact statistics) as compared to what keyword planner is suggestingimg1.JPG.

The "estimator" is a bit biased since it factors in your account's/ campaigns'  historical performances

I look at the "raw " historical data which represents  the actual price paid by advertisers. (Actual CPC paid)
