how to set weekly cost limit for adwords

I am new to adwords and I just want to run a campaign for one week to trial it out. I can only see on the billing that I can be charged by the day but it does not give me an option to run the campaign for so many days only, like one week. Is it possible to do this or do google just keep taking money out of my account until I tell them to stop?

Hi @Julie A D,

There are two separate ways to make sure the campaign pauses at the end of the week. I personally like to do both just to ensure the campaign paused during the desired time. To do both, please follow the instructions below.

Setting an end date:

1. Select the specific campaign you wish to end on the left hand side. Then select the 'Settings' tab.

Next, Select the 'All Settings' Tab underneath the settings tab you just clicked

Scroll down until you find "Advanced Settings". Expanding the 'Schedule' option will reveal the end date settings.

Set the end date you your desired day and save!

The Next option is setting up an automated rule:

Pause campaign1-2.png

*If you wish to pause only one campaign, select the campaign by checking the box beside said campaign.

Go to Automate>Pause Campaigns when

In the Frequency Row, you can select whether you want the campaign to pause monthly on a specific date, daily, weekly, or one time. I suggest choosing the 'One time' setting and selecting which date to pause the campaign and at what time. You can also choose whether you want to receive an email once the campaign is paused.

Adwords is PPC (Pay-Per-Click) which means that as long as your account is spending money, you will be charged. Once your account is paused and no longer running, you should no longer be billed until you wish to reactivate your campaigns again.

I hope this helps & good luck!

Hi @Julie A D,

The best strategy to test run a campaign for a week or few days is to set the end date for that campaign.

Click the campaign > settings tab > advanced settings(Schedule: Start date, end date, ad scheduling) >> edit end date.
