exact match spelling variations

Just tryiny to hone my key words and was wondering with exact match if I use [personalised badges] as a key word would this pick up [personalized badges]. basically the old english v american spelling

Adwords by default will show your ads for close variations.

Close variations include misspellings, singular and plural forms, acronyms, stemming (such as floor and flooring), abbreviations, and accents.

That is what I read as well but when I spoke to google ad words help he suggested that I should use phrase match instead of exact match as exact match would not pick it up...

He did suggest that the information in the help manuals maybe not always be up to date.

Being a newbi to adwords its slightly confusing!

Hi Chris,

The best way to find the truth in Adwords is 'Test'.

Why don't you try "phrase match" for few of your keywords which has good search volume and see the results?
