clicks showing but conversions not showing

HI,

I did a test by clicking on my keyword and signing up on the landing page form.

The keyword shows that a click was made but does not show that a conversion was made.

The information is tracked by google analytics and shows there correctly.

The auto-tagging is enabled in adwords.

The accounts are linked.

How do I get the adwords to show conversions?

Thanks

Yehuda

Hello Yehuda B,

Make sure that you have setup a Goal in GA. For more information how to set up a Goal go with this link,

Hope it helps you,

Hi Yahuda,

Goggle Analytics goals and Adwords conversions are completely different entities.

Have you implemented Adwords conversion tracking code on your thank you page?

HI,

Because the site is a wordpress site, we can't get the landing page to forward to a thank you page.

We just have a plugin called "contact form 7", that contains the google analytics code. After the sinup form is sent, this plugin puts up a thank you sign on the landing page.

Should we put the conversion tracking information into the "contact form 7" plugin?

If so where in the form should we put it?

Thanks,

Yehuda

Hi Yehuda,

Analytics code will help you to track goals when someone sign up. You need to implement adwords conversion tracking code to track conversions in adwords.

Please find more information about conversion trackin code implementation below.

Hi Yehuda,

There are some options mentioned by TC Pete in the following thread where the user can track a conversion without a thank you page. I would encourage you to read this post and see if that helps you somewhat or not:

My 2 cents!

If memory serves form 7 has an option to redirect to the thank you pager and this would probably be your best solution.

Hi Yehuda,

From the sound of it, it seems you have set up the goal properly in Analytics as it has been registered. If you have successfully linked your AdWords and Analytics accounts, Analytics goal completions as AdWords conversion can and often do take up to 24 hours to post to the AdWords account. The conversion in AdWords will report on the date of the original AdWords click while the Analytics goal completion will be reported on the date of the action.

I can't be certain this is your situation, but it seems very likely. Look for the conversion data tomorrow.

Best of Luck!

Pete

Hi and thanks to everyone who is helping me on this.

I was testing the adowrds checking so I clicked twice on the ad twice but only sent the conversion form once. My adowrds tracking shows one click and one conversion. Is there a mechanism that blocks reporting repeated clicks from the same computer/ IP address? How much time must pass before another click will be reported?

Hi Yehuda,

Nobody knows the internal mechanism of what Adwords look into for tracking invalid click activity, but trust me they are doing a great job in identifying it and eliminating the invalid activity as soon as possible Smiley Happy

As per Google, they automatically filter out the invalid clicks from your reporting section. See this article for more details:

http://support.google.com/adwords/answer/42995?hl=en

There's more about how Google protect these invalid traffic activities using their sophisticated tools and techniques. You might be interested in reading this as well: http://www.google.com/ads/adtrafficquality/invalid-click-protection.html
