Hi,

I am using the {keyword} parementer in my destination URL and for some reason , after stoping the campaign for a few hours, the values for non latin languages come in ASCI encoding causing my URL to fail after the click -
Example,

user enters in google search a non latin string - אבג

in the URL generated for the destination I get -

http://www.mysite.com/MySevlet?myParam=123&keyword=%D7%94... -> was exepcting :

http://www.mysite.com/MySevlet?myParam=123&keyword=אבג ...

What can be the problem?

Thanks.

Hi there,

This is an interesting question and a tough one! I've just asked one of our great Top Contributors, Moshe, to help out as in the  past he's had some experience with this I think. Hopefully he'll be able to help!

The strange thing that it was working just fine until today..

Perhaps this is an issue with the web server and how it interpets the value?

This does not happen for all the ads and for some ads the hebrew chars are entered properly but the blank which is converted to %20 causes the link not to work... strange

Hi easyleadz e,

That's URL encoding, not necessarily ASCII encoding.

What needs to happen here is to URL decode the query string before trying to use it. How you do that depends on the language used on the server side.

Best of Luck!

Hi ace1977;

In this specific case of Hebrew - I agree with Pete. (Generally; he is the expert on "server encoding"....Smiley Happy)

I answered a similar question of yours about Hebrew encoding, back in December;

reading value track parameters for {keyword} when non latin languages

Thank you.

It turned out my hosting changed the security rules on the server.

Now it's changed back and the server accepts the URL.

Thanks again.

Hi easyleadz,

So it wasn't the URL encoding at all?

Thanks for posting back here.
