why is my only option to verified my Business by post card and not phone

If you have multiple locations and have one or two of them verified by post card, then you can contact the My Business support though phone and request them for verifying other locations too. They usually do once they are satisfied with the authority and credibility of your business

Because it is the best way to verify that your business is actually located on the map where you say it is. Phone verification is too easy to game with mobile phone and VOIP numbers.

My best guess? They only allow phone verification when they can independently confirm a phone number belongs to a business.

 

In other words, being in the actual phone book helps.

They will send you an e-mail with the same codes that you usually receive on a postcard.
