Using Google Adwords for Low-Ticket Items?

Hello everyone...my ecommerce shop features products that sell for approximately $5-6.  Is it worth using Google Adwords for potential sales?  I read somewhere that you shouldn't be using Adwords for products that cost less than $20.  However I also read that it can be worth the investment if you have upsells....I would like to know your thoughts on this Smiley Happy

Thanks

Chantal

Hi  @ChantalV

The rule here is simple - if your ROI is positive AdWords is worth using.

The method you calculate is more a matter of "accounting". The basic principle remains the same (i.e. positive ROI):  If you include upsells calculate cost per conversion, if upsells are excluded calculate the cost per converted click.

Hey Chantal (I really like that name Smiley Very Happy), how are things?

I Agree with Mosh: as long as ROI is positivo, Adwords is worth it.

One thing that I find most important for advertisers with low-ticket items, is that those advertisers should extract the most best of Adwords compared to other advertisers, in my opinion.

If you create strong segmented campaigns, with specific keywords, using best practices of account structure, keywords match types, negative keywords, focused ads and so many more, Adwords will definitely be a great ally .

I'll leave some pages and discussions that might help you with that.

Two important discussions:

The key here? Study a lot an PLAN. Don't go advertise without knowing where you want to get, because otherwise, anywhere you get will be enough Smiley Happy

Hope this helps.

To add to what Leandro & Moshe, my experience says that if you are running an ecommerce business then advertising is a must. And, so I would recommend to go for tightly themed campaigns, Shopping campaigns and Dynamic remarketing campaigns. With these types of campaigns I have see positive ROI for campaigns that I did. And, I'm sure it will do the same for yours.
