Upgraded URLs

Hi Guys,

Just want to ask if it's okay to just pause ads
that redirect through another domain and

launch new ones that comply with the

new Upgraded URLs.

Or do I have to delete the ads that redirect

through another domain?

Really hope someone can help me.

Thanks.

Hi Jan,

Welcome to AdWords Community.

You can simply upgrade the existing ads to Upgraded URLs. There is no need remove the ads and then create new ones.

Tell us more about your present destination URL with the ads so that we can advise you how to upgrade it.

Thanks

Thanks for the reply, Ratan Jha.

The thing is my present account uses two
different 3rd party redirects.

Ads using the old redirect are already
paused (a long time ago). Do I need to remove these ads?

If I don't remove these ads, will it trigger a review?

My active ads (located in the same campaign) are using
a redirect that looks like this:

http://mywebsite.com/xxxx/?1234abcd={KEYWORD}&c2=Google

This URL redirects to 2 different LPs as we
are split-testing landing pages:

mywebsite.com
mywebsite.com/version1

How should I set up the Final URL and tracking
template under the new rules?

Thanks for your help.

Really appreciate it.

Hi @Jan M,

Thanks for the appreciation, I haven't helped you still though Smiley Happy . Let me do my bit for you -

To your first and second questions, you don't need to remove the ads which you are not using any more. Let them be paused.

For your current destination URL (http://mywebsite.com/xxxx/?1234abcd={KEYWORD}&c2=Google), the Upgraded URLs would be -

Final URL = http://mywebsite.com/xxxx/ (assuming this is the actual page where users land)

Tracking Template = {lpurl}?1234abcd={KEYWORD}&c2=Google

Now, for a certain Ad if your destination Url is something like http://mywebsite.com/version1

Final URL = http://mywebsite.com/version1

Tracking Template = {lpurl}?yourtracking

So, your tracking template will remain the same and your Final URL will change if you need. It also gives you the freedom to use Tracking Template at upper levels ie. at adgroup level, campaign or account level.

Hope it helps.

Thanks
Ratan Jha

Hi Ratan Jha,

The thing is my current destination URL acts as
a redirect, first and foremost.

It splits the traffic between the home page and
http://mywebsite.com/version1

I read that I need to submit "all possible final URLs."

Is there another way of doing this?

Really appreciate you answering my queries.

Thanks.

Jan
