Setting up Remarketing via Analytics

So first time trying to set up a remarketing audience.

First tried in Adwords where I learned you would have to implement a tag, and it created a list of industry related audiences in Adwords that I now can not delete!

However, before implementing the tag, I found that instead, you can do this through Analytics without the need to add another tag and be able to create more defined audiences from Analytics data. So I thought great I will do it that way ....

So I've made sure the steps Google say you need in place before doing this are complete:

  • Analytics and Adwords accounts are already linked
  • Enabled Remarketing and Advertising Reporting Features
  • Created an 'all users' audience and integrated with Adwords

In Analytics this is showing as below with 'users over the last 7 days' being 1164, but no eligible audience?

remarketing-analytics

in Adwords it appears like this:

remarketing-adwords

Do you have to wait a while for this to start populating? or have I set this up wrong? Would really appreciate any help.

Thanks
Natalie

Hi Natalie, it seems that you just need to wait. Just add audience to needed campaign and check if you will start getting traffic tomorrow.

Hi Natalie,

Yes, you need to wait for the remarketing list to gather enough users to then be used in AdWords.

Remarketing lists targeting the Google Display Network must have a minimum of 100 active visitors or users within the last 30 days for your ads to be shown. Lists targeting Google search must have a minimum of 1,000 active visitors or users.

Since Analytics is telling you there have been over 1000 users in the past 7 days, in about 7 days you should have enough users on the list to make it available to use in both Search and Display in AdWords.

Thanks Alexey.

I thought I had done something wrong or was just being impatient!

Thanks Abbie.
I thought that because it was connected to Analytics it would be able to generate this from the data we already had. Thank you for your response I will check again in 7 days.
