Setting daily budgets on campaigns with ad scheduling

Visitor ✭ ✭ ✭

Hi,

Can someone please confirm how the daily budget works with ad scheduling when I am working to a monthly budget.

For example, I have a campaign which I wish to only run on weekdays. Do I have to work out the number of weekdays every month to calculate my daily budget, or does Google take the ad scheduling into account and I just work out the daily budget as my monthly budget divided by 30.4 as I usually would?

Thanks,

Hels Bells

Hi HellsBells,

If you're working with a monthly advertising budget e.g. you have 100 GBP to spend on a given campaign on a given month, and you are scheduling you ad to only show on the 4 weekends of that month. They in such a case you can find a daily budget you area comfortable with (and will honour this overall monthly budget of 100GBP) by dividing your monthly budget by 8 – the total days your ad can show in that month i.e. 4 weekends.

I hope this makes sense.

Good luck!

Hi Hels,

You would need to calculate the number of weekdays in a month on your own and set the budgets accordingly.

Please note that Google can spend up to 20% more than your daily budget on a particular day (Called Overdelivery. You can read more on that here: http://support.google.com/adwords/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=6312)

Hello HelsBells; Welcome;

Quote : "Do I have to work out the number of weekdays every month to calculate my daily budget" - That would be asking too much.  Wouldn't it?

The "30.4 * daily budget", is  a cap to your monthly spending.

On a daily basis, your budget can reach up to 20% above your daily budget setting, to factor days with low traffic. However; It will not exceed the monthly cap based on 30.4 days.

Hi Hels Bells,

Nice question !!

I want to suggest you that you can go with monthaly budget or daily budget depend upon your convenience no problem with that and if you want schedule your ad only on weekend so just follow below...

1. Go on your campaign > click settings > drop down your page at just below your budget setting you found Delivery method (advanced) > click on edit than you can select either of the check box given below but i suggest Standard one.

a. Standard: Show ads evenly over time
b. Accelerated: Show ads as quickly as reasonably possible

2. Below this Delivery method (advanced) you found a Schedule: Start date, end date, ad scheduling explore it >

Ad scheduling  Show ads all days and hours click on Edit >here you can select on which particular day you wan to show your ad. just go through the info grapgics below they will help you out....

 Hope this helps !!

Hi HelsBells,

You can do the following steps to set your campaign Budget,

if your campaign monthly budget is $500, Total weekdays are 22.

So you can do this calculation =(500/22)-20% = your daily budget.

Here is the result $500/22 = $22.73 - 20% (which Google will serve extra) = $18.18 will be the campaign daily budget

Hope this helps

@LynnyRose;

However, in this case, the monthly budget of 100GBP might go above the limit set: 20% "over spending" per day is allowed:

If you divide 100/ 8 - you get a daily budget of 12.5 GBP. Multiplying by 30.4 gives a monthly budget of 380 GBP.

If exceeding daily budget by 20% for every day during these 8 days, we can reach a total charge of 12.5*(120%)*8 = 120GBP - above the monthly budget set...
