You Add a remarketing list at the Audience Tab in a Search network and Display campaign.
Are you then targeting at the Search network and Display network at the same time, by doing that?

I guess you are. However, I would advise creating separate campaigns for targeting the search vs the display network since they are so different.

Hello Elja;

When you set a remarketing list under the "audiences", in a search campaign, and then linking it to a search campaign, you  set a Remarketing List for search Ads - This is the new remarketing feature launched last month.

Recommendations:  Separate RLSA campaign from the "classic" display re-marketing ;

Hi Moshe,
I know that, and I did read that. But I ask something else. I want to know what happens if you add a remarketing list at the Audience Tab in a Search network and Display campaign.

Hi Elja;
Once you add a re-marketing list on the "audiences" tab (all campaigns ---> audiences)  it becomes part of the "shared library" . From there you need to link it either to RLSA or to a "classic" Remarketing campaign. If the list "shares" two campaigns, one on the "display" and one a  "search" - then you will "re-target users visited your site, in two different Remarketing methods.

I hope I was able to  clarify the point; (Well...this is how I set existing Remarketing campaigns)

I think the question is about 1 campaign "Search & Display" one of the "default choices" offered by google . My guess is that if you do not place keywords you will not target the "Search" component of that campaign even if the audience has 1000 cookies.

Do you add keywords in 1 or 2 tabs if you have a "Search &Display" campaign.

HI Moshe,

I do not understand what your are telling.

I´am confused about the sequenses of things in your last post.
I think that first you define a re-marketing list,
And that comes before adding it as a targeting group in a adgroup.

And for me it does not answer my question.

My question is like this :
I have a remarketing list name XYZ in my shared library, with a lot of visitors in it.
I make a new campaign, that is a display, and search network campaign.
I make an adgroup in that campaign.
Then is this campaign I add the remarketing list ZYX at the Audience Tab in this campaign.
Am I by doing this targeting at the Search network and Display network at the same time?

Ah Adrian,

I see that you answered too.

Ok,  I add keywords to this campaign.

Same question here, Am I targeting search network ? display network? of both

@Elja G ;

I don't know:  for two reasons:

  1. It is strongly not recommended to create a "search and displaycampaign. (You probably know that ....just in case... Smiley Surprised )
  2. The documentation about RSLA explicitly says: "Create a new "Search Network only" campaign, or select an existing search campaign and ad group"

Hi Moshe,

I know what is written.

The reason why I ask this, is that you can do this. So there will be people who start doing this.
