Remarketing Tags across multiple sites ..is this possible?. Unclear.

I have a corporate site ABC.com that would like to run a Google Remarketing campaign.
They have 50 Affiliates, who each run seperate websites in designated regions, using
the branding of the corporate company.

Is it possible to install Remarketing Tags from the ADWORDS account ABC.com
across those 50 Affiliates sites?

Thanks in advance.

searchenginemanI've got a chance to check in with a technical specialist about your remarketing question. The specialist confirmed that what you want to do is indeed possible.

We generally don't regulate where the remarketing code goes, since the very fact of you being able to install the code on a site suggests that you are the owner of or at least affiliated with the website in question. So the next steps for you would be to create an account for your central corporate campaign and then create an audience list, and then ask all your franchisees to put that generated code on each of their sites. Visitors to all of these sites will then be added to the same audience list. Then you can set up a remarketing campaign in this new account to target the list, and ads will begin to show one you hit the requisite 100 users.

I hope this clarifies things!
Let me know if anything.
Cheers,
Rashmi

Hi searchengineman,

Welcome to the forum. Great question!

I'm going to have a little trouble answering your question.

Is it possible to install Remarketing Tags from the ADWORDS account ABC.com
across those 50 Affiliates sites?  Yes, it is possible. Paste the same code on appropriate pages for all sites.

The question I have, and I have asked Google the same thing, "Is there a policy that applies to this?" I did not get a definitive answer on that. There does not appear to be any policy regarding the use of remarketing lists (other than the requirement to say something about it in you rprivacy policy.).

Let me bump this up to the Googlers here and see what they have to say.

Best of Luck,

Pete

I´d also suggest that you add a unique tag for each site so that you later have the ability to target each group (people who visited the Florida-, Seattle-, New York-site ...) with a different message if you wish. Which you might vey well wish!

Thanks a lot guys,

(Hah who says Google+ is a ghostfield!)

Of course I ask the really wierd questions - I think marketers are all looking for the answer for this one.
I'm sure there are hundreds of Affilliates & Corporates who could leverage this -
So we can make sure the right affilliate gets the lead, which is a more practical way of leveraging
corporate re-marketing in my opinion.

That's good news.

Can I just check that I understand correctly? The re-marketing code generated in Adwords can be distributed to any external site that you interact with?

In my case, I use a ticketing agency (external domain) to handle event regstrations so it'd be useful to be able to re-market to people that abandoned the registration page before the thankyou page. However I don't want to re-market to people that have reached the thank you page (external domain).  Assume I can still create an audience (of thank you pagers) to exclude? Can I just use the (external) url for the thank you page as the exclusion?

Thanks,

Jason

Hi

Shouldn´t be a problem, as far as I understand, to create a list with "people who visited a URL including thankyou" (for example) and a list with "all people who visited a URL including registration" (for example) then create a custom combination where you include "all people who visited a URL including registration", BUT who are not on the other list ("people who visited a URL including thankyou").

Hi Jason,

I'm pretty sure your AdWords remarketing code must be on the pages to be tracked by URL. The idea would be you place the same remarketing code on all pages of your website, then you define which URLs to add to which remarketing list. In order for this to work for you on a 3rd party checkout site is if you can place your remarketing code on the thank you page for your customers.

If you are able to provide a custom thank you page for your registrations this would most likely work out for you.

Best of Luck,

Pete
