Hi.

We all know, "Keyword-level bids override your ad group's default bid".

What happen in this particular scenario?

Say, Adgroup bid is $9 and keyword bid $5. if system need $8.5 to trigger the keyword, which bid does the system consider to trigger the ad in Google?

-Many thanks in Advance.

Hi Anisha, as you've said in your original message, the Keyword level bid overrides the Group default, so if your Keyword has a specific Max CPC of $5, it will be this that will be used for the auction, not the $9 Group default.

Hi Anisha,
Welcome to the AdWords Community!

I think what you're asking is what happens if your Keyword Max CPC Bid is below the Estimated First Page Bid but your Ad Group Max CPC Bid is higher than the Estimated First Page Bid, correct?

If so, the logic does not change - a Keyword Max CPC Bid will always override an Ad Group Max CPC Bid.  As far as I know, there are no exceptions to this rule.  Per Google: "if you set a different bid for one of your keywords,

that bid will be used (instead of any ad group default bid) whenever that keyword triggers your ad to appear."

In the particular scenario you outlined below, the Keyword would receive little to zero first page Impressions when the Keyword was queried because it's Keyword Max CPC Bid is below the Estimated First Page Bid.

Hi Anisha,

A keyword bid is always going to override your adgroup level bid no matter what the case.

You can learn more about bidding here: https://support.google.com/partners/answer/2472712?hl=en

Hope this helps.

Cheers!
