Recieving report notifications but no account exists

I'm not sure if I'm missing something obvious here.

Recently I've been contracted to assist an ecommerce company that bought the systems of one that failed last year. The webmaster email for the system recieves weekly email notifications from adwords about new reports. However, when we try and log in to Google adwords with the webmaster email username and password that were given to us, Google says it's incorrect. When we try to recover the password using the webmaster email that recieves the reports, Google says no account exists with that email.

Is there a way to regain access to the account sending the reports?

If not, is there a way to stop the report notifications from spamming our webmaster inbox weekly since we can't login to see them anyway?

You will need to ask the adwords account holder to remove webmasters email from scheduled report section. They probably have scheduled reports every week and had the webmasters email added to the senders list.
