Placements in Display campaign - irrelevant websites[ Edited ]

A currently running a display ad campaign where the placements have been selected by Google. Most are irrelevant to keywords, which have been entered like this:
+masters+in+art+history (surely this is not too broad)
What can I do to change the placements? Am I suppose to select websites where I want the ad to appear?
Also, how can I find search terms (terms people have used before clicking on an ad)? in Display campaign?
I noticed in Analytics under 'keyword' - 'Automatic matching' appears for display campaign but not in normal search campaign. is this something to be bothered about?

On the display network keywords are considered broad match, and work collectively to create a theme.
