The keywords you choose in AdWords help you reach customers searching online for what your business offers. But just like your customers, not all keywords are suited to a one-size-fits-all approach.
That’s where keyword match types come in. You can use match types to widen or narrow your potential audience for specific keywords, which can help you get more out of your AdWords budget!

One REALLY important match type that was left out though is broad match modifier. It's between broad match and phrase match and I think is especially important for newer advertisers who have not built up a substantial negative list.
