Hi everybody,

I tried to figure out why my conversion tracking doesn`t work.

Error: No HTTP response detected

I already read a lot of articles and tried to figure it out e.g. by deacitivation of wordpress plugins (also caching) etc. but nothing helped.
I`m using the Chrome Tag Manager without other addons like popup blocker etc..

I am using the folowing code on a wordpress site:

<img height="1" width="1" style="border-style:none;" alt="" src="//www.googleadservices.com/pagead/conversion/xxx/?value=1.00&currency_code=EUR&label=xxx&g...>

I want to use a tracking of booked trainings. So the page delivered after sucessful booking shall execute this code and count the conversion.

Any ideas hints, what also could be the problem?

BR,

Mel

Hi Mel,

Hard to tell without the page URL. This looks right except for this:

var google_conversion_value = EUR1.00;

It should probably be:

var google_conversion_value = 1.00;

That will cause a Javascript syntax error. That means the value, currency, and remarketing-only values do not get set before loading the .js file.

Yes, the Tag Manager will tell you you must include the currency with the value. It's confusing at best.

Everything else needed to record a conversion gets assigned, so I don't know if this is really the problem. I can only suggest you change this piece, then test again. The let us know how it turned out.

Best of Luck!

Hi Pete,

thanks a lot for this hint. I already tried it with an without EUR. But it didn`t fix the issue.

Currently I try to figure out if Google Tag Manager would be the easier way for me. Smiley Wink Hopefully get clarified how to define the correct trigger and I guess then I have a proper solution. So far I stop trying it by coding directly, which didn`t work. Smiley Sad

Hi Mel,

I took the code you posted above and pasted into a test html document. A couple things threw an error, but that doesn't necessarily mean they are a problem on your site.

1st error: google_conversion_id must be quoted. That should be a number in your script, so this does not apply to you unless you have accidentally include an alpha character in your conversion id.

2nd err: google_conversion_value unexpected number. Again, remove the EUR from the value. Even if it doesn't fix it this time, you will need to do this sooner or later to get the script to run.

After fixing these 2 items, Google Tag Manager for Chrome reports all ok, but non-standard implementation.

Is the thank you page delivered by call-back or AJAX? If so, Javascript returned with those calls does not run. You'd have to record the conversion differently.

I placed the code you've posted above and placed it on this page: https://www.novaspace.com/scriptTest.html

I replaced the conversion id and conversion label with value from my account. First, go to the page with Chrome. You should get no errors from the Tag Manager, except it wants Analytics code, too. Now, view source and copy all the HTML to your own page. Replace the id and label values with your own values, save, then open your file with Chrome. When you no longer have errors reported, look at your code on your WordPress site. Does it match? If not, I'd copy the code block that works in the test and paste it over the code in your widget. Then test again.

Let us know how it works out.

Best of Luck!

Hi Pete,

thank you for the sample script. I tried it out, but had several issues as soon as my variables are inside the code.

It seems Google Tag Manager is easier, although I don`t have a final resolution yet.

The tags there are fired, inside the Google Console I see my conversion tag is marked as active, but no conversions are counted.

Maybe I have to check the counting somewhere else? Or connect a campange to it? Or... ?

If you want to have a look at my current tag integration you can find it here: http://www.gewaltfrei-miteinander.de/veranstaltungen/189/wie-worte-wirken-gewaltfreie-kommunikation-...

After submittig the testevent (no worry, it`s just a testpage) the count should be made, because the tag is fired. But it won`t. Smiley Sad
