Negative KWs: Would "car" block [cardboard]?

Hi,

I couldn't find information about it. The question is simple: If I have a positive kewords [cardboard], would that keyword be blocked by a negative keyword -"car"?

I know that car blocks [fast car], [rent a car], etc.. But not  sure when another word contains "car".

Thanks

Hi Alberto,

No "Car" is not blocked your [cardboard] Keywords ad appearance because both keywords are different in terms of meaning and category.

Thanks,
Anand

While Google might show your ads for search queries that are similar to your keywords, it is the other way around for negatives. Negatives need to be precise.

-car will block these:

car
how much is a car
where is my car dude

-car won't block these

cardboard
carbon
cars
motorcar

It is good practice to add all the variations of a negative that you can think of, including misspellings and plurals.
