I have an ad that is showing 10 clicks, for example. I want to drill down and find out which of my keywords in this ad group to attribute these clicks to. Is there any way to do this?

Hello

It is much more simple. In the Ads tab in AdWords use Segment and choose Keyword/Placement it will show you for each Ad what keyword triggered a click.

First in Adwords you need to go to the section for Ads. Click Customize columns, in attributes ad the column ID

Note the ad ID's

Log into Analytics - Navigate to Acquisition > Adwords  > Keywords ( or even matched search query),  use the secondary dimensions tab - navigate to Advertising and Chose Adwords Creative ID.

Now you can compare the Clicks with the Ads by cross referencing the ID's  via Adwords and Analytics.

Not sure of another way to do this, but the data is there for you and this method at least works.

Hope that Helps

Eric, thanks for your elaborate answer! I haven't tested it yet, but I like how your mind works! Smiley Happy

Adrian, thanks for really really simple answer. It almost makes me wish I didn't ask this question since I try to research before I post here and it seems I should've played with the AdWords interface a little bit more. Smiley Happy

The interesting thing is that you can even see Ads grouped by Search terms but only in the downloaded Excel version of Segments.

For example the segment "Ad Id" is not available in the interface when you look at the Search Terms (Keywords Tab >>Details>>All), the Segment button only has for search terms Time/Network/Device.

Once you download the Search terms report and use the Segment version from the report , you get "Ad Id" and "Ad", as extra segments.
