Keyword match types - how do they interact with each other?

Hello,

If I know that "visa application" is a strong search term for me, is there any benefit in creating an ad group with the following keywords:

visa application

[visa application]

+visa +application

Would +visa +application overrun the other two?

What if they were in separate ad groups?

Thank you!

Hi @Dinesh R,

Whether you put all the match types in a single ad group or in different, the one that is most relevant to the user query and has higher bid will trigger the ads.

If you are bidding highest on BMM, it may restrict the exact match keyword to trigger the ads and will consume most of the spends.

So, bid highest on exact and lowest on BMM.

Hi @Dinesh R,

In case you have some very strong keywords, it may make sense to break them out into multiple match types. Everything else equal, none of them will overrun the rest and chances are each will gain its own share of traffic.

Grouping keywords into ad groups by match type may be a best practice under some circumstances. It does not have performance related objectives, its real goal is keeping a clean household.

Best,

Lakatos
