I inherited an account where there was an ad group with 456 keywords. The adgroup was for a rhinoplasty landing page and ad.

Literally All the 456 keywords were some sort of variation of rhinoplasty with the rhinoplasty word in them and all broad match!

rhinoplasty surgeon

rhinoplasty procedure

best rhinoplasty

procedure rhinoplasty--some where same keyword  in different order

I finally just deleted them all and just kept 1 rhinoplasty broad match thinking this would be the right thing to do.

1) was this the right thing to do?

Thanks!

Go through the search term report (set it to all time) and look for negatives you can add. I've done rhinoplasty before and there shouldn't be too many - consider these as a starting point:

video

youtube

names of other surgeons / clinics

If they had conversion tracking (that is valid and meaningful) use that to see which keywords have converted in the past. You could give them their own ad groups and own ad copy if there were multiple conversions.
