Issue with Adwords Editor install

Hello everyone!

I seem to have an issue with the installation of Adwords Editor, as soon as the process starts I get this error:

Information about this 0x80040707 error are scarce on the Net and none of them seem to be related with my problem. Does anyone have a clue on this?

Thanks in advance

Try going to the directory that holds the file for launching the installation, right-clicking on the installation file and select Run As. Uncheck "Protect My Computer And Data From Unauthorized Activity", and click OK.

thanks for the reply. Do you mean "Run As Administrator"? I can't see just "Run As" and there is no option to uncheck "Protect My computer....".

Any other ideas?

Hi guys, thanks for commenting

I had alredy tried that workaround but same as Adrian, my contextual menu doesn't have that option.... Running as administrator or with different compatibility modes has no effect.
I forgot to mention, the OS is Win7, I assume yours too Adrian?

I managed to install an older version, but as soon as it starts updating the same error appears

I have several legacy PCs for testing purposes, and run into similar issues with Win7 conflicting with other programs.

Try using the clean boot procedure documented here (following the Win7 steps):

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/929135

A> Follow steps for Windows 7 and Windows Vista

B> Install re: "What is next when I have a clean boot environment?"

AdWords Editor is installed in C:\Users\%USERNAME%\AppData\Local and doesn't require admin privileges to install or run, unless the environment expressly prohibits.

Also just tried installing on Windows 7, and there was no issue.

One place to look for more info is the Windows Event Viewer.

Under Windows Logs > Application you will see events with a source of MsiInstaller.

Perhaps one of those events has more info, like an installation error code, which is different than a system error code.

Thanks for your time and patience guys, unfortunatly neither your suggestions worked : (

The same error happens even after the clean reboot, and in Event viewer I can't see any error, warning or message related to Adwords, not even times related to the installation attempts... Might be the final push to get Windows 10, I'm clueless otherwise

This is an environmental issue; possibly with the registry.
