Images not Approved in Google Smart Display Ads

I am running several campaigns using Google Smart Display Ads and have encountered an issue with the image of the ad being approved. I added in the campaign assets several weeks ago and the campaign says that it is 'Approved'. However, when I click on the ad for additional information, the advertisement description and headline have been 'Approved' but the image says 'Pending'. I have spoken with customer service on several occasions and their advice has been to re-upload the images. I have done this and am still encountering the same issue. This is happening for multiple different campaigns with different images and content. How can I ensure that my smart display ad is running with the image included when it says pending?

Thank you for your comment, however, I do not think resizing the images is the solution to this problem. When doing a smart display ad there are different image dimension requirements than a regular display ad (which are the restrictions that you are referencing). The suggested dimensions are 1200x627 with a minimum of 600x314, as a result the images uploaded are in fact not limited by dimensions.
