If I can't calculate ROAS how do I decide on Adwords?

Hi all,

 

first of all thanks for all the valuable information one can find here. I have been looking at the posts for a while but nothing really matches my situation.

 

I am doing Adwords for a site that mainly takes care of the traffic. We are no e-commerce (even though we have some kind of services we sell). That makes it really difficult for me to calculate any ROAS, since I can't associate a money conversion to a click.

 

 

I wanted to know if anyone had a similar case in which they mainly care for the traffic (to feed adsense or Display) more than optimizing towards conversions and how did you dealt with it?

 

Did you use only broad keywords in order to attract as much traffic as possible or you would also recommend to book every Keyword also as exact? Did you even use negatives or it won't matter since we just want the traffic.

 

Do you have any recommendations to give me? I am sometimes a bit lost with this new constelation of not really having money convertions.

You need to define other Key Performance indicators which are important for your business and create a set of conversions which would track those KPIs. At a starting point you can take advantage of Smart goals https://support.google.com/analytics/answer/6153083?hl=en But if you  If you want to get profit from AdSense, AdWords campaigns would not be a good fit to your needs, focus on creating good content and website optimization instead.

thank you very much for your quick answer. I agree with you that Adwords is not the way, but my client is keen on using it still. I would rather focus on what you suggested.

 

With this scenario, do you have any recommendation regarding keyword match and negatives?
