Edit: See PPCBossman's message below, my reply here based on the adwords documentation is probably incorrect

Hi Nanda,

You're trying to unlink an MCC account from a normal AdWords account, and you have read-only access to that AdWords account?

That should work, unlinking an MCC is possible if you have read-only rights.

How to remove access can be found in the removing account access section of this page: https://support.google.com/adwords/answer/1704346

Hi Nanda,

Actually, I tested this for two scenarios and it doesn't appear that this is possible.

There are two possible scenarios based on your question:

Read Only access for an MCC or Read Only access for a single AdWords account - Either way the user does not have the permissions to revoke access for a Client Manager or Unlink an Account from an MCC.

After all, that's the point of Read Only access, protection from changes.

Otherwise, if you wanted to grant someone those powers, you'd provide them a higher level of access.

Hi Nanda,

I understand what the Help Docs say but unfortunately sometimes reality is a bit different.

Here is what I've found:

When a user has 'Read Only' access to an individual account, they do not have the option to 'Revoke Access' to an MCC/Client Manager (the dropdown options are non-existent). You can see here that I'm logged in with a 'Read Only' Account and do not have options to change User Access Levels or Client Manager Access.

Also, when logged into an MCC with a 'Read Only' Account, there are no options to change an account linked to the MCC. When logged in with a higher level account, you'll see numerous options for linking/arranging accounts which is how you would remove an account from an MCC.

Are you experiencing either of these options? Can you elaborate on what you're attempting or what you're concerned about?

Again, the point of 'Read Only' access is to protect the account from unwanted changes etc...I can't logically see why that level of access would have options to revoke MCC access etc...

Perhaps there is something I'm missing here and/or completely misinterpreting the Help Center.
