Hi

How to calculate the proper daily budget for a campaign.I know there will be sugessions from adwords account but How can we manually calculate a useful amount which help to give our ad more exposure? What are the facters that I shoud consider before setting a daily bid ?

Also how about the keyword selection, Is it will be okay to select the default cpc shown by the adword account for a highly competitive keyword?Or is it desirable to set it manually?Any tips to share?

Hello, Anne.

It all starts with the keywords. The more you select, the higher the "total daily available impressions" get.

But you'll have to decide which are the important ones, the potentially valuable ones, and start from there. Once you've placed them in an ad group, and left them there for a while, together with their ads, the system will tell you how you're doing with respect to:

  • first page bid
  • top of page bid

From then on you'll be able to adjust your bid.

According to the "daily available impressions" (you won't see that), your budget and your CPC bids, your system may show your ads every time a search query that matches your keywords is used, or only sometimes.

A few days after adding the keywords in your ad group you'll start seeing "Impression share" metrics. The system will tell you if your budget is too low, or if your ad rank is too low.

If you're missing impressions due to budget limitations, you can increase it (while keeping an eye on ROI).

If it's the ad rank that limits you, you should work on your keywords (pausing some, or adding negatives), your ads and maybe on your bids as well.

What I usually do after I see a campaign that is performing is increase the budget until the impression share is almost 100%.

But trying to set a daily budget right out of the bat, without seeing what the competition is, the search volume and your QS is not possible, in my opinion.

Hello.

You can change your ad group default bid (for all keywords), the keywords' specific bid and the campaign budget any time.
