Hi All,

I have a query like we have an option in adwords interface to change your keywords from one match type to another (broad, exact, phrase to phrase, exact, and broad).

My question is there any option in adwords to change our any keywords match type (broad, exact, phrase) to broad match modifier directly through google adword interface or is there any easy way to solve this issue.

Please help me on this issue your support will be really appreciated.

Thanks,
Frank

Hi Frank,

Welcome to the AdWords Community!

To change Broad keywords to BMM, best is to use AdWords Editor. Download AdWords Editor.

Download your account in AdWords Editor and then follow these easy steps:

- Open AdWords Editor and go to campaigns >Keywords Tab.
- Select all Broad Keywords, then Append Text with “+” to before existing text and create new keyword set.

- Select Replace Text and Replace the blank spaces ” ” in the selected keywords with a blank space and plus sign ” +”.

(In the same drop down where you see Append text you will find, Replace Text)

And Post changes.

2nd Method.

If you don't want do it in Editor, you can download spreadsheet of keywords from AdWords Interface & change broad to BMM in spreadsheet and can upload sheet. In order to change Please see the below screenshot:

1. Select all Keywords in a row and Ctrl F > Select Replace Tab and Replace the blank spaces ” ” in the selected keywords with a blank space and plus sign ” +”.

 find and replace in excel.png

2. Insert one row and add +sign and use the formula concatenate as shown in image below:

Press enter and Drag for all keywords.

3. Now select all keywords you have changed from broad to BMM. Right click > Paste special and click values.

Now you are done. Just remove the extra column that you added for +sign. And you are ready to upload BMM Keywords.

This is how I do change broad to BMM. If someone has more easy and quicker way to do this please let us know.

Hope I am able to make you understand steps properly. Let us know if you have more questions.

Thanks

Neha

Hi Frank,

If you are wondering why it isn't easier to achieve, modified broads are the only match type that is customizable. You can choose which keywords have the + sign and which don't, like this:

+dolphin holiday
+dolphin +holiday

How to change your broad match keywords into broad match modifier.
