How should I choose my audience?

Hi

I have my own car rental company in Iceland. I have been reading a lot of articles about how to find out my right budget and more. But I have a lot trouble how to choose my audience. We have a lot of tourist all over the world coming to Iceland. I have read that choosing for example all countries is not efficient. How can I choose my right audience when Im starting my ad.

I have few questions:

#1 Should I choose all countries?

#2 Should I choose few countries in one campaign?

#3 Should I have many campaigns with few countries in each?

What do you think is the best way?

Best

Thor

Hi Auto C,

What you should probably do here is target only Iceland and include search intent, the default setting. That way if people located outside of Iceland enter a query like "car rental Iceland" or variations of that your ad will be eligible for display.

Also, if people located in Iceland enter a query like "car rentals" your ad will also be eligible.

To summarize, if the query includes geographic modifiers that indicate Iceland your ad is eligible, even if the user is not in Iceland. If the user is located in Iceland, your ads and keywords are still eligible.

You really don't need to include the geographic modifiers in your keywords. Just use keywords for car rentals.

Best of Luck!

Hi Auto C,
To answer your queries first.
1)No you should not choose all countries
2)No, not even few countries
3)No, not even many campaigns with few countries in each

Now to help you understand the targeting of geographic location. You need to have campaigns that target only Iceland & your important keywords in that campaign which are relevant to your business. These keywords may or may not require to have your location name added. You just need to make sure in your campaign setting you need to choose your Location options (advanced) as People in, searching for, or who show interest in my targeted location. With this setting people around the world who look for car rentals queries in Iceland will be shown your ads.

Hope this helps!

Cheers!
