Hello.

I have many Display campaign running perfect, but suddenly lots of fake site start sending traffic and also making falso conversions.  The CTR of them are SO HIGH around 15% and in many cases I have a conversion rate of 120% that is impossible.

My average CR is 7%. Maybe a good campaign could have 15%, but form these fake site I have around 60% of CR and also 120% (impossible).

I made LOTS of target method testing, all of them! I used adwords for the last 14 years, I know how to run campaign, but every day I am excluding these fake sites, but new ones appears.

I also report them to Adwords, but as I said, news ones appears.

These is an example of fake placements.

http://sweepscity.com/

Any idea how to avoid my site being shown on fake placements?

Please, keep in mind that is NOT a  targeting mistake from my side. I used EVERYTHING form lots of test. When I find a good converting campaign, after some days it start to appear fakes sites placement with miraculous CTR and Conversion Rates.

I will thanks your point of view.

Mat

Hi Mat,

This is verbatim what I asked you to do on Apr 23.

"Seems, you will not be able to manage that manually. In your case, I would opt out of aggressive marketing, seems, it's not particularly advisable for you."

*** DCO Fake Conversions? ***

Based on your new complaint it seems you do continue that poor practice. Judging by the fake placements you listed you may be marketing something that involves high CPC values. No wonder the bad boys are after you. For that purpose they create and delete web properties by the hundreds per day and may ruin you before Google has a chance to capture them. You are strongly advised to narrow your marketing scope as suggested, before it is too late.

Best,
Lakatos

Hi there;
If your targeting methods are optimized and set correctly, you shouldn't get a lot, but yet, you get some every day...
Unfortunetly, the way to exclude them is by reviewing the list frequently, and manually exclude placements;

Hi Isadora,

Based on the placement sites content you can find certain words those will be completely irrelevant for your business so i will recommend to add all such type of words as a negative in display campaign. Hoping you have already excluded irrelevant "Site Category". https://support.google.com/adwords/answer/3306596?hl=en

As Moshe has already suggested that you need to work on a daily basis on placement as well as negative keywords. I am using this method on daily basis for my display campaign.

Thanks,
Anand

I do it every day, exclude those sites, add negative KW, but nothing is enough. New sites appears, more and more.

What I cannot understand, how is possible that ALSO they make fake conversions.

Example, filling a form to suscribe to a newsletter.

@Lakatos, I am NOT targeting aggressive marketing anymore. But problems still happening.

Also, from campaigns I started from cero.

Dont matter what I do, fake placements still appearing.

I am using Kewords Placements, Demographic, Locations, Site Category, etc. I tried everything.

Any other advise from you?

Hi Mat,

You did not mention you did it meanwhile. Did you also entirely opt out of the "Let AdWords automatically find new customers" feature? If not, chances are you should.

I apologize for mentioning your earlier forum query where you definitely stated that you enabled Aggressive Targeting. Either way, your targeting still seems way too broad for your purposes as long as what you described is happening in bulk.

Best,
Lakatos

@ Lakatos

"Let AdWords automatically find new customers" I tried both, aggressive and conserve. I tried everything.

The problem would be if from CERO, when I create the campaign, it dont work. But is not the case. The campaign works PERFECTS. Suddenly, 3 o 4 days later, these fake placements start appearing and ruin everything.

The problem is that those fake placement use a robot or something like that, that knows how to find my Pixel. So, they start to make conversions. Thats why I have UP to 120% of Conversion Rate.

My campaigns are under CPA, so they start shooting traffic from "top converting placements", but they are fakes.

The worst thing, is that I need many conversion to discover that a placement is fake.

Very frustrating.

Hi again,

"Let AdWords automatically find new customers" I tried both, aggressive and conserve. I tried everything.

My question, in fact, is whether or not you opted out of both.

The problem would be if from CERO

That's a Japanese organization and I don't think they have much to do with the Google AdWords Program. So why are you basing your strategy on them?

3 o 4 days later, these fake placements start

They need time to pinpoint you again and again or refresh their website targets only periodically.

those fake placement use a robot

Absolutely correct.

I need many conversion to discover that a placement is fake

If that's true, it is a major issue.

Honestly, if you do not wish to disclose more details I can understand. However, that leaves us pondering and wondering on why on earth you are making all those unusual decisions. You could perhaps shed some light on the issue by letting us know of your industry, business model and geo-targeting. Else you'll seem a bit kind of mysterious.

Best,

Lakatos
