Do I need to pay extra to Google for using ad extensions feature? Like, do I need to pay if someone see my phone number and calls me?

Hi Mainik

No you don't need to pay any thing extra for Ad Extension, you will be only charged normal avg. cpc if a user clicks on your ad extension.

If a user on mobile click on your phone number, then you will be charged normal avg. cpc only.

Just to be clear, you are not charged an "average CPC", you are charged the same amount you would be for a click on your ad without the extension. There is no such thing as a being charged an "avg . cpc" for a click.

Thanks Dave for correcting my words, i wrote the post in our running language that we use daily at our work.

@Mainik- Please replace "avg. cpc" by a "click".

@Dave- One more thing, I would like to add is now Google give attribution to Ad Extensions also in order to calculate the Ad Rank so the charge for a click on a Ad without the ad extension cannot be the same on a Ad with ad extension.

@AbhiShek S:
Yes, since October 2013 ad extensions is a factor in calculating Ad-Rank
"... With this update, Ad Rank will also take into account a third component: the expected impact from your ad extensions and formats...."

Ahhh. Yes. I forgot about that. Still, the point remains, theres no additional charge for using extensions. Not direct anyway.

I have had some nice 200% CTR since the beautiful Ad extensions appeared. This is why

https://support.google.com/adwords/answer/3465883?rd=1

"AdWords charges no more than two clicks (per impression) on each ad and its extensions."

[edit] I believe this is because people click on the location extension to see the distance and then back in the browser and click again on the Ad to see the site. It would be useful to show the Ad details again once they view the map, to avoid this [end edit]

At least a click for review extensions is free ( not on the rest of the ad)

https://support.google.com/adwords/answer/3236114?hl=en

"You aren’t charged for clicks on reviews but, as always, you’re charged for clicks on the ad itself."

Also it depends on how you define "extra charge" If you want sitelinks you may have to increase MaxCPC to appear more often in the top 3 spots. For me some keywords have confortable ROI at avg. ad position 5, I do not want to increase MaxCPC for them just to have sitelinks too.

Good Luck !

Hi all, I'd like to clarify a couple of points.  Firstly, Ad Extensions now form part of the Ad Rank calculation, not Quality Score itself, so whereas Ad Rank used to be calculated on just two factors, CPC and QS, it's now based upon three, CPC, QS and Ad Extensions.  It's a subtle difference but an important one.

Secondly, it's not necessarily true that a click on an Ad with extensions must have a different cost to a click on one without.  As I've said, Ad Extensions do notaffect QS directly, so CPC is still based upon your Max CPC and Quality Score.  Your CPC may change when using extensions (either up or down) because of changes in your Ad Rank, but it may not, there's no absolute.

All this is explained in the link provided by Moshe.
