Dynamic Retargeting Quesiton

We are setting up dynamic retargeting on our ecommerce store.

Same product with different size have same ID.

So when person adds 2 same products with different size we can have the following picture in the cart:

ecomm_prodid 296,296

ecomm_pagetype cart

ecomm_quantity 1,1

ecomm_totalvalue 49.58

Is it fine? Or is it better to do this way?

ecomm_prodid 296

ecomm_pagetype cart

ecomm_quantity 2

ecomm_totalvalue 49.58

Thank you

Hi Dzianis,

I suggest you make a test order under both methods. If you tracking captures the data correctly for both methods, it will not matter which one you choose. I hope this helps.

Best,
Adam

Hi Dzianis,

I think this totally depends on how you have setup your product feed. If you have added the same product twice for the 2 sizes then you need to identify them as two products of the same nature.

Also, I think with dynamic remarketing, it doesnt matter if the user has seen different sizes for the same product. The dynamic remarketing ad created will showcase it as only one product with its picture in the ad and not as two different products.

Hope this helps!

Cheers!

Hi Dzianis, You use product category group for same product of different size & color with same I'd. This is called product grouping.

Hi Dzianis,

Personally, I would make sure that each product has its own id at some level.  Any system which can leave you in a position of not knowing the exact nature of the product sold is not going to be ideal.

for product-listing-ads each item must have a unique id

and each item in a variant group must have an identical

item_group_id value or the variant cannot be submitted --

at least not without risking a disapproval or suspension.

google recommends that and a best-practice is for each

variant to have either a separate landing-page or a page

where the variant is pre-selected via url-parameters; e.g.

http://www.example.com/products/toys/wagon.html?color=red&size=2meter
http://www.example.com/products/toys/red-2meter-wagon.html

in both cases, there would then be a single unique variant

with appropriate custom-parameters (ecomm_prodid, etc.)

on the (link) landing-page.
