Display Network

Hello Adwords Community!

I have a few questions regarding the display network.

1. Does your ad only show on other websites when they are searching for your keywords?

2. What does 'run of network' mean?

3. What does 'multiple locations' mean?

4. Why can't I choose particular pages within a site to advertise on? (This may be the same answer as #1).

5. How do you like the remarketing tool?

1. Your ad can show on placements (websites) that are part of the Google display network, if/when your targeting options match the content of the site/page, and you have a high enough adrank to get an ad to show.

2. ??? Um, seems like 'run of network' is basically unfocused display advertising. Throw as much out there as possible and who cares. More of a branding (look at me!) than direct action strategy (hey, buy something!).

3. With adwords, just what it implies - Multiple goegraphic locations. If you are referring to online display advertising in general, it probably depends on context, but could mean multiple placements/sites.

4. You can with adwords, maybe not with other display advertising properties.

5. Eh... Remarketing is one of those things that takes a lot of resources to be most effective. If you don't have all those resources in place, you may not get the same kind of results others have seen who do have those resources.

Here's some more display network information:
