Display Campaign Targeting Methods

I have been running a Display Network campaign for several days. I turned off the "Targeting Optimization" option where Adwords will automatially find new customers for us. We had this running before and it was pulling our ads to irrelevant websites.

 

When I just checked our campaign results, I saw this...

It looks like somehow, Adwords is using another Targeting method, which I don't want. I just checked our placement analytics and once again, it's pulling our ad into irrelevant sites and mobile apps. I have to keep going back and adding these unwanted sites and mobile apps to the "Excluded" category for our campaign. I double checked and the "Targeting Optimization" box is not checked. I have no idea where this other targeting method is coming from. Any ideas or thoughts?

If yes, you can choose the "content" just below the keywords targeting, instead of audience.

 

It will refine your placements, Google will stop showing the irrelevant placement. Also, your campaign reach will reduce but your campaign CTR will improve.

Try keywords and another targeting method (e.g. topics) to narrow the targeting audience.
