Difference between frequency and impression?

I'm just wondering if someone can tell me what the difference is between frequency and impression. From what I understand, they are fairly the same thing. An impression is when a user sees your advertisement on Google and frequency is the number of times a user will see your ad. Is there a difference?

Hi Leverage I,

An impression is counted each time any user sees your ad.

Frequency capping is available in Display Network campaigns. It limits the number of times per day a single user will see your ad.

They are not the same.

Best of Luck!

So you have to set a frequency cap? It is not always on?

Hi @Leverage I

Yes, frequency capping is not enabled by default, you need to set it yourself. More can be found here -

All the best!
