Hi Irene,

Welcome to the Community.

Yes, to execute an AdWords Advertising Campaign, you do indeed need a website.  When someone clicks on your ad, you will need a place to send them to so they can view your products/services.  Here is a quick video that may shed a little more light on what AdWords is:

Also, you may want to take a look at the Learn With Google website as there is quite a bit of good information there too.

Please let us know if you have any further questions.

Hope this helps!

Hi Irene and Tom

As it is possible to set up a campaign in which only the phone number attached to the ads in it are clickable, and not the link leading to a website, it should theoretically be possible to adverise without having a website.
But, I am not sure about it, maybe Google will demand of you to have a website although users cannot click through to it.
And in that case, if you don´t wanna spend money setting up one, maybe you could just set up a very simple one using, for example, one.com, cause you´re actually not gonna send any visitors to it anyway

Hi David,

My understanding is that as well, yes, you could have a mobile campaign within an existing account that does have call extensions/click to call only enabled and yes that would appear to not 'need' a website.

However, these are ad extensions we're talking about and as far as I know, when you create ads, which are needed for extensions to work, you do need a website attached Display and Destination URLs. I think that they're needed even on display ads too (no idea why Display URL is needed??) but perhaps I'm wrong.

I think the OP here is looking to sell products online and chances are they would benefit greatly from having a website not only for general product sales but also for online advertising efforts.

And really, wouldn't AdWords Express the best solution for someone to 'use AdWords' without a website?

I personally didn't mention any of these items because sometimes, simple answers are IMO, the right way to go based on the questions and how they are posted here. Smiley Happy

Cheers!
