Can anyone help me understand why my number of clicks yesterday was much higher than the number of users reported on Google Analytics? I was charged for every click and my  tracking code seems to be fine.Thank you!

Hi Gary L,

AdWords counts clicks, Analytics counts visits. If a user clicks on your ad, checks your site, goes somewhere else (ex. for price comparison) then clicks your ad again within 30 minutes or so, AdWords counts 2 clicks, Analytics counts one visit.

This is usually the reason for the difference in counts.

Best of Luck!

Thank you so much! So, if I understand correctly, a person who visits my site more than once in a short period of time only counts as one visit. That helps me understand.

Hi Gary,

Clicks vs. Sessions

There is an important distinction between clicks (such as in your AdWords reports) and sessions (such as in your Audience reports). The Clicks column in your reports indicates how many times your advertisements were clicked by users, while Sessions indicates the number of unique sessions initiated by your users. There are several reasons why these two numbers may not match.

Hope that helps
