Copying keyword quality score to another ad group? Please help.

Hi,

Is it possible to copy and paste a keyword from one ad group to another ad group and still have it retain its quality score? My coworker says its possible, but when I do it the keyword does not retain its quality score.

I would LOVE to know if this is possible. I just created more specific ad groups and a couple of single keyword ad groups (SKAGs) from keywords that had really high quality scores. Now the quality scores are like 4s and 5s in the new ad groups, which is driving up the CPC.

Thanks!

Hi Nick, copied Keywords are brand new AdWords elements and as such have no historical data.  Since Quality Score factors in the relationship between other Keywords in the Group, the Ads in the Group and the landing page(s), if any of these other elements are different from the original Group these are other reasons why QS may change.

Bear in mind that QS for a new Keyword is based largely upon an estimate by AdWords, not the data of the Keyword itself and you may well find that in a couple of days - or even sooner - you'll see these lower Quality Scores reach the same sort of values they had in the other Group.  If you've made these new Groups more specific, then you may even find they reach higher scores.

What are the scores like across all Keywords in the Account?
