Copy overlap between Ad Text and Extension Text, does this hinder ads from serving?

If I have a line of text in my Sitelink Description that matches a line of text in my ad, will this hinder the ad from serving in all instances? Or perhaps in any other extension?

Hi Christopher,

As far as I know this won't affect anything.

Hope this helps,

My experience has been that the sitelink description typically won't show when the ad copy contains the same text as the sitelink. This is just what I've anecdotally noticed and is not backed up by facts or data.

Good question. The help documentation seems to be focused more on the sitelink name and the landing page than the description content. However, the idea behind ad extensions is to add more content to the ad. So, as a best practice, perhaps try changing the sitelink description slightly.

"You can't use the same name for more than one sitelink, even if each sitelink has a different landing page."

"We don't allow two or more sitelinks in the same campaign or ad group to point to the same landing page or the same content. We also don't allow sitelinks that direct to the same landing page as your ad uses. "
