Confusion: Display or Search ads? How can I achieve exactly the same ads?

Hi,

I came across these ads recently(image 1) and thought they were display ads until I clicked the small arrow icon "why this ad" and pop out a new window that Google is telling me this is based on current search term(image 2).

I would like to confirm which type these ads are. And how can I create the exactly same ads like this and in the same placement and site?

Thanks,

Jason

If you will opt search partners, ads will definitely show on such partners site.

Though Google don't provide details of these sites.

Use the segment tab and segment the stats by network (with search partners).

hi @Jason Zhang,

Have you opted search partners in your search campaign?

On search partners sites, your ads can appear on search results pages, on site directory pages, or on other pages related to a person's search.

Hi @Archit,

That's surprise. I was wrong all the time before.

The screenshot above is the ads from other advertisers. Do you know is it possible to optimize ad for one specific placement among Google search partners sites?

Thanks,

Jason

Hi,

Unfortunately we can not.

Either we can opt out the search partners if these are performing poor or we can increase CPC bids to get better ad positions on these search partners.

Hi @Archit,

Thanks for confirming this. This leads my real confusion then.

I saw some of the ads on the Google search partner site (like the image I showed on the top) but I never find these same ads on Google.com itself with the same search term. I don't understand how this can be achieved as an advertiser.

Thanks,

Jason

There may be several reason behind this.

On Google SERP, the ads will look differently(As per the ETA)

Search partners sites almost have lower average CPC. So, there are chances the advertiser is loosing the ad auction on Google search due to lower bids or QS.

Hi @Archit,

Yeah this make sense when using it as a strategy.

However, my ads do show up on Google search for that keywords but I never see it on this partner site for the same search term. I mean if I can make my ads on Google, I should make them on everywhere, right?

Thanks,

Jason
