Character Limits in Ads

I'm confused in creating my ad. I am limited to a small number of characters. But when I see my ad among others - those ads have far more characters.

What am I doing wrong?

Please see example. My ad is at the bottom.

Hi Tracy B,

For the top 2 ads what you see is this:

Headline
Display URL
Lines 1 and 2 combined
Sitelinks Extention(s)

What you see for "Marin Criminal Defense" (or what it looks like to me)"

Headline + first line of ad copy
Display URL
Second line of ad copy

I would suggest you add a few sitelink extensions to the ad group or campaign.

Best of Luck!

You can use the call out extension. This will allow you to add more text. It looks like the top ad is using the extension.

Thank you both! I appreciate it very much. Teaching myself a bit at a time and you saved me more wasted hours. Very grateful.
