Can I not promote my seller page in a different website?

I am trying to promote my own course page on Udemy

i.e. https://www.udemy.com/shellprogramming/?couponCode=unixPromo

Now when I try to create an ad with this, it fails (because of the '=' symbol). So I gave a call to Google Support whose executive immediately said that I cannot promote a specific landing page on a different website.

After I told her that I wasn't convinced and said even in my own website if I try an '=' sign, it doesn't work. She immediately told me that '=' PROBABLY doesn't work. This got me laughing. I also know that. It's shameful that such an answer comes from Google Support. I said please check.

Then she said that if an URL contains a '=' symbol, it's a temporary URL. Hearing that for the 1st time.

Does Google know what they're doing or not? Or should I just go with Facebook ads?

Secondly if I search for say "flipkart top seller" on google, there are a bunch of ads on the right side that link to specific products on ebay. Does that mean Ebay is promoting specific sellers and products on their site?

Worst support service ever!

Hi Ram M,

I made a test by creating 2 text ads for you in my own experimental account. Both of the ad copies have meanwhile - within 1 hour - been approved by Google. In both cases, the final URL was specified as you did originally, containing the = sign.

Final URL: https://www.udemy.com/shellprogramming/?couponCode=unixPromo

I think the issue is decided by this entry. Please find the snip below my sig.

Best,

Lakatos

Try to use on your webserver redirect via .htaccess for this URL and get a special "new" landing page - http://www.webconfs.com/how-to-redirect-a-webpage.php

After it everybody, who visit https://www.udemy.com/shellprogramming/landing-page see only page however this will be your original page https://www.udemy.com/shellprogramming/?couponCode=unixPromo

Hi Ram,
While you are creating ads be sure you are using domain name in display url the same of which you are referring your users to land. Your display URL must be udemy.com also be sure the text you are using in your ads should not be "trade mark" terms

Thanks
Vivek

Hi Tomas,

Thank you for this. Is there a reason I should use 301 redirection? What
about URL shortener?

I'm asking this because Udemy.com is not my website. I'm just a seller
there and can't create a custom landing page on that domain

If you don't own that domain you cannot promote without keeping "display url" as "landing page url", even redirecting will not work it would count as clocking and spam you are doing.

Thanks

I think you mean cloaking. If we go by your logic then URL shorteners
should not be used at all. Even Google has a URL shortener. I wonder what's
the use of URL shortener then.

Oh sorry, if you affiliate partner that may be the reason. https://www.en.advertisercommunity.com/t5/Ad-Approval-Policy/How-to-properly-do-affiliate-marketing-...

I do not know Udemy.com - is it affiliate website? You can not promote affiliate website.

It's a market place for online courses. Yes maybe it could be considered an
affiliate but it's my own course that I'm trying to promote. I guess Google
can't verify ownership of the course though!

Kindly go to this link to find google policy for display url. If your display URL is "www.example.com," for example, your final URL might be "example.com/sweaters." The domain of your display URL (the "example.com" part, in this case) needs to match the domain of your final URL.

URL shorten is use to shorten your url and track as tag, you cannot use that shorten url into ads. Google ad policy is different please go by the policy only then they will allow you to advertise.

Thanks
