Can I negative match [alcohol addiction] in an ad group targeting "alchol addiction treatment"?

I don't want to waste money on the broad keyword, but I recall seeing an ad display issue in the past caused by negative exact match words. Please help.

Hi lamiradaseo,

Yes, you can add -[alcohol addiction] as a negative and it won't restrict any other related terms like alcohol addiction treatment at all. You ads will just stop running on that exact search query.

You could stll have alcohol addiction in there as a phrase match so it can trigger if there are additional words on either side of "alcohol addiction".

If you do a keyword diagnosis on this term it will say that a negative is preventing it from showing but the diagnosis does the test on the keywords you use and not adding any additional terms but it will be displaying.
