Call only campaing & Call extension

Hi guys!

Elaboration is welcomed for the following:
1) First when you use call only as campaing and when you use call as extension? Which is best practice for usage?

2) "If a campaign or ad group has only mobile-optimized call extensions, these may show on desktop and laptop computers. To avoid this, include standard call extensions of the same type as the mobile-optimized call extensions in your campaign." Can somebody explain me a little bit further what exactly means?

Thanks

Hi Marija,

Both call only and call extensions have different objectives.
Call only ads are not preferred for all kind of businesses. Also, these ads are only eligible to be shown only on those devices which are capable of making the calls. So, we can say limited reach as well as more useful for business whose focus is phone calls. More beneficial for those which use leads generation through forms and then follow up the user through phone. So, these eliminate/skip 1 step that is form fill up.

The main advantage is phone number is shown in the headline of ads.

While call extension are shown additionally with the ad text and hence extended reach. These are useful for all kinds of business where you offer clickable ads directing to the website along with the option to make a call on the devices which supports call option.

2) Option mobile preferred option will give prefrence to the mobile device with full browser though it may be shown on desktop or laptops but with least priority.
While without opting the mobile preferred option there will be no priority for any device.

Further, there is one other option if you don't opt for mobile preferred. That is device bid adjustments(for mobile devices)

So, its upto you which one you opt. Even you can have experiment with mobile preferred ads and device bid adjustments.
