Best location options (advanced) for my business?

Hello world! (first post in the community)

I would like some advice on how to target costumers for my online campaigns. My business organises regional Private Equity conferences. As an example, our last conference was in Paris and we had 200 attendees: 55% were French, 17% British, 10% Swiss and so on and so forth dividing the attendees between 12 different countries of origin.

Question: Which one of the following options should I pick for my campaigns:

  1. People in, searching for or who show interest in my targeted location
  2. People searching for or who show interest in my targeted location

I guess my main questions is: By picking the second option above does that eliminate all the people in France that search for Private Equity Conferences?

Best

Tomás

Generally option 1 is the best way to go for most campaigns.

To answer your question:  If you are targeting Paris, France and selected option 2, your ad would not show if someone in Paris searched for "private equity conference."  If some one in Paris searches "private equity conference Paris" then your ad would show.
