Balancing Budgets and Keywords

I like to break my campaign up into two different time slots and use some of the same keywords in both but I think Google looks at this as duplicating the keyword even though they are in a different time slot.  Correct?

Google won't think you are using duplicate keywords if you run them on two different time slots. Its better if you use the inbuilt bid adjustments based on scheduling. It will be much easier.

Hi Doyle, as StructuredPPC has said, if the only purpose for splitting the Campaigns is for time, then you can do that within a single Campaign using the Ad Scheduling settings.

However, if you want close control over budgets (not bids) in those time periods or if you're looking to separate entire Time Zones, then yes, you'll need to split the Campaigns up.

In either case, there will be no duplication of Keywords since they will be showing at different times and/or in different geographical areas.
