Analytics-based lists for search remarketing?

Hi there,

From what I read here, remarketing list created in Google Analytics (dc.js snippet) cannot be used for the targeting of ads on the search network (at least in the current implementation of Enhanced Campaigns).

Does anybody know if and when it will be possible to use Analytics-based lists for search remarketing?

Thanks!

Hi Giacombo,

Yes, you can create a remarketing list with Google Analytics and then link to Adwords to do campaign on remarketing. Please visit the following link for more details: https://support.google.com/analytics/answer/2611268?hl=en&ref_topic=2611283

Thanks Gokul, I'd read that article, but it doesn't answer my question.

Hi,
Please note you can't use re-marketing list (whether it is Adwords Re-marketing list or Analytics Re-marketing list) for Search Network. You can use it only in Display Network campaigns.

Personally, I do not think it makes sense for google to introduce this feature for its Search Network as it will not serve the purpose of Keyword Based Targeting.

Hello Latha,

RLSA has become available for all users since 25 June 2013.

Read further here :

http://adwords.blogspot.ro/2013/06/bringing-intent-context-and-audience.html

You may find the Audiences tab in your search campaigns as well as in the adwords editor.

You can also use the negative audiences exclusion to create campaigns where you exclude all the previous visitors in order to obtain less "returning visitors" in the analytics reports.

I tried to raise awareness around this subject in this post :

https://www.en.adwords-community.com/t5/Manage-ads/Has-anyone-configured-RLSA/td-p/180214

Also there is this updated help page :

https://support.google.com/adwords/answer/2453998?hl=en

"

  • Remarketing lists for search ads: Show ads to your site visitors when they search for what they need on Google. Expand your reach with additional keywords, set bid adjustments for people who have visited your site, and tailor your ads to them."

@Giacomo : I asked about this a few days ago and a Googler Coco simply told me that it is not yet available, maybe they will announce this in their blog. However in the mean time you can use the Tags.

Hi Adrian,
Thanks for this update. It is a news to me. I will start experimenting that to see if it is going to fetch some value.

Not sure, if this is going to fetch better experience from the Search result. Hoping Google Search Re-Marketing won't spoil the mood of search users by showing various Re-maketing search results for different search queries. I still personally feel that this is going to affect the Keyword Based Targeting.

@Giacomo: Sorry for the wrong info.

Regards,
Balu.
