Adwords suggests £2 CPC doesn't this seems excessive?

Maybe I'm mad but the suggested CPC is ridiculously high ...I would suggest that unless you are Rolls Royce that this is fr too high and not at all cost effective?

Indeed, there are expensive keywords these days.

Use the keyword planner  to research for alterrtanive more narrowly targeted keywords  or more "niche oriented" keywords.

Improving the QS (the usual  techniques...) could also help lower the CPC...

Also, you will pay less than you bid, sometimes substantially less. A £2 could end up costing £1.80 per click, or £0.50 or anywhere in between.
