Hello.

I've always wanted to give it a shot, but didn't find the time.

As far as I understood, you have to keep in mind the attributes and policies found here: https://support.google.com/adwordspolicy/answer/176108?hl=en with regards to width, height, file size, looping and fps.

Then, the element that should be clickable should be coded using a particular event, and a click should take the user to the URL specified in the clickTAG argument.

So you create your animation, make sure policies are not violated and assign the mouse event to whatever element you want to be clickable (even to a transparent top layer, meaning that a click anywhere on the ad takes the visitors to the URL specified).

As for templates as FLA, I don't know of any, unfortunately.

Hope it helps.

I would suggest to start by setting up a new campaign just for your display advertising. Go ahead and build out the main structure of your campaign and adgroups. At this point I usually create my targeting methods (keywords, topics, etc) before I begin ad creation but for some creating the adgroup with the end goal in mind works for them.

To create the ads:

Here are Google's Display Ad file dimensions, size, policy, etc.

http://support.google.com/adwords/answer/1722096?hl=en

Here is a tutorial on creating a flash ad from scratch.

http://flashexplained.com/banners/creating-a-flash-ad-banner-from-start-to-finish/

If you're not able to work with Adobe Flash you can use Google Display Ad Builder by going to the Google Adwords Display tab, create a new ad, and select the display ad builder.

Hope that helps!

I don't think that tutorial is suitable for AdWords flash ads, as they talk about sending the user directly to a URL specified in the code.

For AdWords ads though, that URL should not be there, but rather "injected" by the page displaying the ad (controlled by Google) in a way that allows Google to do all the redirection and tracking.

My 2 cents.

Good two cents. The takeaway, adapt it for Adwords. The creative creation part should still be the same though.

Hi Stan1212,

Since Google start to convert flash ads into html5 automatically in early 2015, you can just try to build html5 ads with their official tool: Google Web Designer. The link below is a full guidance from introduction to step-by-step explanation, and you don't worry about the compatibility - it just works well:

Thanks,
Jason
